Sanitation Week 2026: Countdown to the National Launch in Kamwokya

Cleanliness is not just a habit; it is a foundation for a healthy and thriving nation. As we approach National Sanitation Week 2026, the energy across Uganda is palpable. From the vibrant markets of Kampala to the rolling hills of Kabarole, the WASH sector is mobilizing for a week of action, advocacy, and transformation.

This year’s celebration is more than a commemoration it is a national movement to ensure that every Ugandan lives in a clean, safe, and dignified environment.

All roads lead to Kamwokya

The journey begins in the heart of the city. We are thrilled to announce that the National Launch will take place in the Kamwokya Market Zone.

This isn't just a ceremony; it’s a day of service. In partnership with the Ministry of Health and KCCA, the launch will feature a massive community cleaning exercise. But we are going a step further recognizing that sanitation is the first line of defense for our health, we are integrating vital medical services on-site, including:

  • TB & HIV Screening: Mobile health vans will be available for free testing and consultations.
  • Tree Planting: Leaving a green legacy at our launch site to promote environmental health.

Spotlight on Kabarole: The Host District

While the launch ignites in Kampala, the spirit of the week will culminate in Kabarole District. As our host for the National Commemoration, Kabarole is setting the gold standard for community-led sanitation.

The district is buzzing with activity, from Village Health Teams (VHTs) mobilizing households to youth engaging in Sanitation Sports (football and netball).

These activities remind us that hygiene is a team sport one that requires every member of the community to play their part.
